My Journey

My life approach is rooted in self-compassion.  I began learning about it years ago as a musician, instructor, and curriculum developer in Southern California, where I worked with K-12 students, women’s choirs, and the LA Opera & Long Beach Opera houses.  While getting my bachelor’s of music (BM) at HARTT Conservatory and doing grad work in Amherst at Umass, I was music director at a church in Avon, CT.  After teaching for 25 years, I was ready to help people in a different way and received my master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Antioch University, New England.

My professional interests as a therapist revolve around sexuality, serving the LGBTQIA+ community at large, and helping individuals impacted by trauma and loss.  As a lesbian passionate about helping to bring congruency with one’s sexual self and trauma healing, I am here to help clients find their voice and inner strength wherever they are in their journey.  Choosing if or how to come out or transition and finding our place in the world as minorities bring unexpected challenges and often require making decisions that can alter the course of our lives.  I would be honored to be by your side, helping you figure things out and move forward on your unique path.

My Heart-centered Approach

My life is rooted in the practice of self-compassion, and learning to speak kindly to yourself is something we will work on. I promise to see you, hear you, and that your story is safe with me. You deserve that, and one goal will be for you to believe it, too.  My style integrates neuroscience, trauma research, humor, and mindfulness practices while incorporating innovative treatments, including Infrared Sauna Therapy and expressive arts.  Together, we will develop clear goals, and you will get tools and skills to take with you to be successful outside of the therapy session because that is where your life happens.
